Wild Lyric is a rewilding project centered on the Liri River in Italy’s Central Apennines, where the removal of obsolete dams and barriers is restoring the river’s natural flow and reconnecting fragmented ecosystems. By freeing nearly 11 km of waterway, the project allows everything to move again — water, sediment, nutrients, fish, and life itself — reshaping the river as a living corridor that links landscapes and species. Wild Lyric highlights how restoring natural movement can revive ecological processes, strengthen resilience to climate change, and redefine the relationship between people and rivers through long-term, collaborative restoration.
